March 2026 Newsletter…

Hello from eastern Montana. We appreciate your taking the time to read our newsletter. Lots has been happening here, and we have news to share!

Happenings here & there

My last newsletter talked about bitter cold. Well, things changed pretty quickly! We have had above normal temps and it is dry. There was wild wind and a scary fire at our neighbors’ on Sunday. The fear level definitely rises when no one but the fire department has water trucks (they would be ice cubes in our winter temperatures). Our prayers are definitely for those struggling with the horrible fires in Nebraska

Tana just enjoyed some glorious days in the AZ sun visiting Tienna, attending Art of the Cowgirl, and riding in the desert.

We had our first calf. She is half a month early, but healthy and feisty!

In the News:

Alexis has been recognized by AQHA as 1 of 10 in the nation AQHA Emerging Leader. Unfortunately, she will not be able to attend convention to receive her award in person as she is traveling with her REAL Montana class in the country of Morocco.

LHR Dun Vintagesmoke and Alexis

Today, as I was writing this newsletter, Alexis was riding a camel in Morocco!

What a thrill to have Zac 34, the sire to our young stallion, Woody Be Blue 34, be recognized as reserve champion NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman. Interestingly, our senior stallion,  Sanrose Blue Colonel, is also the son of a reserve champion WGH horse, Colonel Doc Bar Chex.

Our horses can be found in all walks of life. MRI Sage Little Buff has proven herself to be not only a cow horse but a fast ski joring horse for her owner Hedy Seber!
Watch them here on Facebook as they take a win!

Introducing our newest stallion

We are super excited to announce that Playguns Pepto P18 is joining our team! ‘Gunner’ is a 14.2 hand gorgeous bay roan son of Playgun Watcher. Gunner will be standing to the public until May 22, 2026 for an introductory fee of $850.

Rare opportunity to buy a well started MRI gelding

We decided to offer a horse to the University of Montana Western Montana Center For Horsemanship at Dillon, Montana. What a neat experience that has been. Eric Hoffman does a great job with the college students and the students do an impressive job with the horses. MRI Catch Me Blue is a 2022 blue roan gelding out of our amazing 1D barrel stallion, Can Man Fling, and a roping bred mare that was used for 4-H & ranching before going to the broodmare band. MRI Catch Me Blue is the sweet and sane horse everyone in the family can use plus he will rope and run and watch a cow with the best. Everyone loves riding these Camo colts. They are talented, sweet, and easy to work with. He sells as Lot 15 in the Montana Western’s Colt Challenge & Sale in Dillon, MT on March 28, 2026. He is eligible to be enrolled in Future Fortunes and 5-State Breeders Futurity.

Of course, we also have a great selection of young horses ready to start under saddle. The geldings we offer are really great and include our last Sugar Irish Oak babies which people have been giving us rave reviews on.

Spring means turkey hunting

There are a lot of turkeys in our pastures. If you are looking for a Merriam Turkey hunt, you can book a hunt with lodging on our ranch through Landtrust.

COW~girl Getaway!

If you are ready to come ride MRI horses (or bring your own), learn cattle handling, and be pampered in a cowgirl sort of way, we invite you to register for our first cowgirl retreat of the year!

The meaning of Easter

As we go into spring, we enjoy my favorite holiday. Easter. Our life in Christ is why we live! We are not perfect. We sin. We fail. BUT! Our awesome God paid the penalty for all of our transgressions and He, like the words from the good song say, “
Life is worth the living, just because He lives”!

If you wonder about the salvation that Christians enjoy, I encourage you to watch the movie, The Passion of the Christ. Our church will sponsor a showing of it in Glendive on April 2nd at the Rose Theater.

Oh the joy that fills my soul! We pray that joy for you too! May you have an Easter of resurrection peace
Plan to come see us this year. We offer a stay in our remote ranch house at a discounted rate to those who buy a horse from us!

Wishing you a blessed Easter,
Tana & Crew
