Our Open House & Fall Work
We had a wonderful weekend of halter breaking the foals. It makes my heart swell with pride to watch how well each baby does. Our crew did a nice job with training each one and we had a lot of fun together. The weekend ended with a great open house – a nice crowd visiting & looking at our beautiful horses. New people and our dear repeat buyers made it a great day. I just love to talk horses with people!
Fall has its own busyness. The crops are finished. Our first try at Camelina was really an interesting experiment. We have been putting in water tanks, hauling hay, repairing fences (year round job it seems) attending conferences, & Dr visits….last week Tienna was hit by a floor jack handle, breaking a face bone just below the temple. 2 days later our horse, Spark, was found in the pasture suffering so we raced him to an amazing vet in Dickinson, ND to find his head trauma was a broken orbital bone & shattered bone in his throat. Amazingly both Tienna and Spark are doing really well. We thank the Lord for His protection.
We had a fun set of international helpers this summer. 2 girls from England, 1 from Ireland, and 1 from Germany came at different times for various length stays and helped some while experiencing life in the US.
Alexis attended the RSVP Network Gathering in SD with Ellie (from England).
Alexis attended her first meeting of Resource Education and Agriculture Leadership (REAL) Montana – a comprehensive two-year program offering in-depth education and training in the agriculture and natural resource industries. We are so proud of her in this recognition & accomplishment as she joins with other leaders MT.
Last week Alexis & Tana attended the Expanding Markets Conference of the Western Sustainability Alliance where Tana was on a speaker panel about Agritourism.
Looking ahead, we’ll be weaning the foals soon. The weather has been pretty nice, but we like to wean while it’s still dry and fairly warm. This is where they have been enjoying September…..
For those considering purchasing an MRI horse, we always have a great selection. We have a trailer going to Billings October 18th & if your purchase is complete, we are happy to add yours to the load.
How about this cute matching pair? Colt & filly. Their dams are half sisters and both are out of Colonel. You can click to their pages below
We have nosy animals!
Hunting & Tourism…..
Hunting season is upon us. For the welfare of our family, animals, & wildlife, we have moved to fee hunting on the entire ranch this year. All hunting access is booked at Landtrust.com. We are also requiring fire extinguishers in all vehicles due to the dry conditions.
Adventure & learning in Montana!
We are setting up the 2025 schedule with more retreats, family get-aways, and camps next summer. It sounds like a teenage COW~girl retreat would be appreciated. Please let me know if your daughter(s) would like to participate and what dates would be best for you.
We are happy to offer ladies groups a girls’ getaway. If you have a group of friends, family, coworkers with whom you would like to escape for a few days, let’s make it happen! We can do anything from riding horses to making cheeses and/or Christmas gifts. Email Tana at montanamoments4you@gmail.com with what you have in mind, and we will make it happen!
We hope to see you soon!
