Solid broke Barrel Horse
A rare saddle horse offering from Mahlstedt Ranch! Finish is an 8year old bay roan mare standing 16h.
Finish is a well broke barrel horse that has done all the ranch work too. It is nothing for her to cover 20
miles a day in rough country and go race on the weekends. She has a big motor and not had her legs run
off. I have been running Finish on barrels for a couple years, but I don’t haul much. She won a year end
saddle her first year being run. I switched her left last year and she is really liking that. I pulled her out of
the pasture and entered her once this year and she placed in the 3D with little effort. My plan was to
keep entering her this summer to get more stats, but I am in a walking boot for a couple months and
don’t want her just sitting around. I expect her to be a solid 2D (1D local) horse with consistent hauling.
She’d be perfect for an experienced youth rider looking for a step-up horse. She does need a confident
rider as she’s not naturally a confident horse. For her size she does amazingly well in little indoor pens as
well as big outdoor and has only hit one barrel in her life. Nothing fazes her in the branding pen and she
will hold to doctor cattle in the pasture. I think she’d be an excellent head horse, but I don’t team rope.
She’s patterned on poles but hasn’t been entered yet.
Finish is a bit quirky with her head being touched (I took all the ear pieces off her headstalls) and can be
hard to catch. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body though and has never offered to buck, etc. she
rides off in the spring like you put her away in the fall. Runs barefoot. This is a chance to own a true combo horse!…Barrel, Pole, Ranch, Rope horse.
