January 2026 Newsletter…

Happy New Year to you! 2026 is off and running for us and we have lots to share!

Alexis & Corinne & their cousin Kyra left Christmas day for 20 days on a Christian mission trip to Mexico to build a school.

Tienna left for AZ the beginning of the month and is enjoying warmer weather, riding & training horses, and learning crop adjusting for different crops like almonds & pistachios. She has her stallion, Can Man Fling, with her and will stand him for a short time (live cover) in AZ this spring.

George’s book arrived last week. ‘Hannah is the perfect read for the International Year of the Woman Farmer. The book looks at the changes over the century in which his mom, Hannah, lived. You can order your signed copy on our website store or on Amazon.

We were in the news again in the regional publication Tri-State Livestock News.

Winter is the time we spend catching up on computer work, taxes (I personally detest this job), & planning for the year ahead. Our website has had a makeover for the new year! Kristin @ Digital Horse Marketing does such an amazing job for us. Check it out: www.mahlstedtranch.com. It will continue to be a work in progress over the next month. We have also been scheduling agritourism activities and events and we’ll focus on those in our next newsletter but here is one of the fun things we are working on…..

All of our critters are wooly with lots of hair for the brutal MT winter. Last Friday it was -30 degrees here. I always chuckle when people ask for current photos. It’s a true horse judge who can see below all the hair to the real horse. Many don’t like the winter woolies and pass on MRI horses until they are shed out to their summer loveliness. That’s ok. It is nicer to visit in the summer anyway, haha.

Speaking of lovely …this fall we had our friend, Denae with Diamond D Images come do a photo shoot of our stallions. Take a look!

I know for many, looking forward to spring & the EXPECTED FOALS is a fun way to pass winter hours. Here is that list. Yep, when the babies arrive is our favorite time of year too!

As you journey through this new year, we pray that you trust your future to our God who saves.
May you have a wonderful 2026,
Tana & Crew
